Food free of gluten and specifically designed for people with celiac disease is branded with a barred wheat ear badge on the packaging.

Tips at the Restaurant

If You are affected by celiac disease You should choose a place well aware of Your problem. A place that is organized to serve gluten free food. If this is not possible, may be you are on a holiday abroad, just talk to the manager and ask for gluten free food before ordering.

Here are some tips to avoid gluten contamination of your food.

- Bread: Pay attention where bread is sliced. Carefully wipe all the crumbs.

- Food containers (Tupperware and similar) : You should reserve some containers specifically for gluten free food storage. Never mix the containers or You will have contamination.

- Oven: You can cook gluten free food in the same oven as other food. Just place the gluten free food on a separate surface, baking paper can be an idea.

- Cured mead: Just slice them with a knife that has not been used to slice bread or similar food before. Use a clean, washed knife.

- Pots: use carefully washed pots and You will be fine.

- Colander: use a dedicated colander for Your gluten free food.

- Deep Fried Food: don’t use the same oil for gluten free deep fried food and regular food, Or just cook the gluten free food before the regular one if you want to use the same oil.

- Cooking water: never use regular food cooking water in cooking Your gluten free food. Never.

- Surfaces: don’t place gluten free food on surfaces where You placed regular foods before. It will lead to contamination.
